One Africa Trust Focus and Programmes
One of our current main focus is on the recruitment, training and deployment of volunteers to strengthen community resilience and support vulnerable communities.
Volunteers are trained in pandemic and disaster preparedness, caregiving, community volunteerism and humanitarian response. We also equip them with entrepreneurship and livelihood skills to promote self-sustenance and enable them to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Following the granting of UN Special Consultative Status, we are also developing an orientation programme to help our members and volunteers understand what this status means, the opportunities it creates, and the responsibilities and standards expected of One Africa Trust as an organisation in consultative relationship with the United Nations.
Under our Unity and Cultural Exchange pillar, we organise annual conferences and programmes in March, June, September and December, alongside participation in invited programmes at local, national, regional and international levels. These activities provide opportunities for dialogue, cultural exchange, networking and collaboration among communities and organisations.
Our volunteers are also deployed to clinics and hospitals, where they provide voluntary support to health institutions and assist communities through caregiving and other humanitarian activities.
Through these programmes, One Africa Trust seeks to build a skilled, responsible and self-reliant volunteer network capable of responding to emergencies, supporting communities and contributing to sustainable development.
